Export to XLS or CSV
Does version 7 include the ability to export to a format other than XML? I need to merge two existing assessments into a new assessment (making some changes along the way). I have the XLS import sheet from which one assessment was created but not the other. It would be most convenient to export both exams to XLS (or CSV) to make all the changes, then import into a new exam.
We are a current subscriber, but appear to be running 6.6.x. XML is our only export option.
Testcraft 7.0 does have the ability to export to Microsoft Excel format (the same template that Testcraft imports).
It is currently limited to the following question types:
Test questions types: “TMC” for multple choice, “TTF” for true/false, “TMS” for multiple select, “TDD” for dropdown select, “TFI” for fill-in, “TNF” for numeric fill-in, or “TES” for essay questions
Survey question types: “SCO” for choose one, “SAD” for agree/disagree, “SEP” for excellent/poor, “SDD” for dropdown choose, “SAA” for all that apply, “SSA” for short answer, or “SOP” for opinion (free text) questions.
It also supports “CTX” for textual content blocks.
Hope that helps.
Thanks Rob. The new XLS export looks great. We’re a Premier subscriber. When will we be upgraded to version 7? Are there any backward compatibility issues to worry about? We can take this out of the forums if you’d prefer: PM or email me.
Thanks,
Tim
Tim, I’ll have Michael from my team get in touch with you shortly to discuss the upgrade and any issues involved with it.
Tim,
We are actively working on upgrading clients so you should be receiving a notification in the very near future. There is currently an easy way for you to combine the two assessments (and will hold true in V7 as well). When copying an assessment, you have the option of creating a new assessment or appending to an existing assessment.
Steps to combine assessments into a new assessment-
- Make a copy of the first assessment. Note: Testcraft will require a new assessment name
- Copy the second assessment, select append to existing assessment, click submit
- Select the desired assessment to append to (obviously your first assessment copy in this case), click submit
That’s it! You can now edit your combined assessment as you would any other assessment. Quick tip: try the “Arrange Questions” option to arrange your question in your desired order.
